A guide to Stamford Bridge and the surrounding area

Pubs and restaurants

The Butchers Hook: Over 100 years ago (then called the Rising sun), the deal that gave birth to Chelsea Football Club was made in this very public house. A blend of gourmet food, fine wines and real ales  make this pub upmarket but it still manages to adhere to the traditional pub concept.

Barbarella Restaurant: The closest Italian restaurant to Stamford Bridge. Having never eaten here myself I cannot comment on the quality of the food, however I have heard very mixed reviews, with some saying it is fantastic, whilst other say it is poor.

La Reserve Hotel: The hotel has a guest bar, which is very pleasant and never gets overcrowded, even on matchdays. The bar has spirits, soft drinks and beer but in bottles only. The hotel also has a simple, but nice bar menu. Good points include the comfy chairs, glass fire place, proximity to Stamford Bridge, door staff and Sky Sports on the flat screen TV. Only downside is the small toilet facilities.

The Sofa So Bar: Although the prices aren't cheap this place is great for food and on a Chelsea match day it gets very busy making the atmosphere electric just before kick off. They could do with investing in air conditioning though!

Yo Sushi!: Inside Fulham Broadway underground station. As with all Yo Sushi! bars, you know what you are getting, cheap, colour coded, fun and good food.

The Blue Elephant Restaurant: Indian and Thai cuisine. Fantastic decor almost makes you feel like you’ve been transported to Thailand itself and the food does not disappoint. It matches the expectations the venue sets itself. Only downside, it’s not cheap.

Chop Chop Noodle Bar: Cheap food, fast service, large portions and good quality food make it the only pace to go for Chinese food near Stamford Bridge. Just past Fulham Broadway on the same side of the road.

There is also numerous places a few hundred yards away on the Kings Road.

Obviously these are only a select few location around Stamford Bridge but I hope the list helps you to find what you want on match day.

Besides the stadium itself, which houses 42,055 fans on matchdays, Stamford Bridge has many other areas of interest. These include two hotels, apartments, various bars and restaurants, one of which is a celebrity chef Marco Pierre White establishment. There are also two Chelsea megastores, a main and a smaller store, a museum and an interactive centre called the Chelsea World of Sport.
